Lingering Grain, Forms in Variation approaches sculpture not as a fixed form, but as a state that continuously evolves and comes into being through time. Hand-built structures remain as solid masses, yet the grain inscribed on their surfaces embodies traces of accumulated time, revealing its layered structure. Upon this condensed field of duration, light, moving images, and data generate subtle differences that continually transform the form through variation.
Here, variation is more than simple change. It is a process in which repetition and difference intersect within the same structure, allowing form to continually reveal itself anew. Between stillness and movement, condensation and diffusion, form no longer exists as a completed object. Instead, it emerges as an event—one that is continuously generated and transformed in the flow of time.
The natural scent that gently permeates the exhibition space extends this process of variation into another sensory dimension. Though intangible, scent moves through space, subtly shifting as it encounters each visitor, leaving behind a distinct sensory trace shaped by individual perception and memory. Material, light, and scent each unfold at their own temporal rhythms, converging within the exhibition space. In these moments of sensory overlap, sculpture is no longer experienced as a fixed form, but as a living presence—one that is continuously reconfigured through time and perception.
